Casablanca Ceiling Fans

Casablanca was the first American company to re-introduce residential ceiling fans in the 70s. Their first models were largely decorative and not designed to be functional. These models are not easily repairable, contact ceilingfanrepair@yahoo.com for more details.

Casablanca started making functional ceiling fans in 1978, such as the Zephyr, Victorian, and Columbia. These models used the K63 motor by Emerson. There are very little components that can fail, however these K63 motors are notorious for bearing problems (contact ceilingfanrepair@yahoo.com for details). Some models used a rubber flywheel that may need to replaced, see "flywheel replacement".

In the 80s, Casablanca introduced several new speed control options, and a new hanging system. The Slumber Quiet variable speed system offered infinitely variable speed control silently, but often failed. Casablanca offers a retrofit kit that can be ordered. The InteliTouch control offers computerized wall control with no additional wiring, it is largely reliable however circuit boards can fail. Replacements and upgrades are available from Casablanca. There was also a remote control option called Comfort Touch, parts are no longer available however these fans can be upgraded to a different control system. Casablanca 3 speed ceiling fans are largely without problems. In 1981 Casablanca introduced the HangTru canopy system which allowed fans to mount on a flat or vaulted ceiling, this canopy was recalled (see "ceiling fan recalls") as fans were falling. Again, Casablanca offers a retrofit kit. The hanging system was upgraded in the 90s and fans after that point no longer have issues.

The majority of Casablanca fans use a rubber flywheel that may need to be replaced. See "flywheel replacement" section. As with all older fans, with age and use the bearings may become dry or dirty and require oiling or replacement, see "oiling" section.
